Recently we hosted a private Press Luncheon at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Cafe and Shop to ring in the new year with guests from our local press outlets. The afternoon included a chance for our guests to mix and mingle, meet the A Joy Wallace team and sample some of our gourmet menu items offered at the Vizcaya Cafe and Shop. Scroll through the images below to get a peek of the event!
|The event was designed with romantic seaside elements to create a Seaside Vizcaya feel.
| You may be wondering what Joy Wallace is doing holding a Cinderella vinyl…allow us explain! Prior to opening the lunch buffet – Joy addressed the press, explaining how the A Joy Wallace concept came about. A Disney lover at heart, what better way to describe realizing her dreams, and finding Prince Charming, than Cinderella? Joy’s husband, Richard Wallace, is truly her “Prince” as she says, however her fairy tale wasn’t complete, she still wanted her “castle to entertain guests”. And so A Joy Wallace was born, dreams were realized, and 12 years ago, she was granted the opportunity to be the exclusive caterer for the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Cafe and Shop. This honor is not one that Joy takes lightly. Over the years she and our Corporate Executive Chef Elgin Woodman have been working to develop a menu that would fit it with the rich historic feel of Vizcaya.
|Once Joy Wallace found her prince charming, she had no idea that she would be lucky enough to find two! Charlie Cinnamon has been working by our side for almost a year, and played a large role in putting together this event, and for that we thank you!
|Guests had the opportunity to sample many of the items found on the Vizcaya Cafe and Shop menu, including Joy’s home recipe for Broccoli Salad. This side consists of fresh broccoli tossed with Roasted Peanuts, Dried Cranberries and a house dressing.
|Petite Egg Salad in a Jar served with a mini fork and freshly toasted Italian Bread.
|Our Forbidden Salad is tossed in a Passion Fruit Vinaigrette and mixed with Grilled Pineapples, Goat Cheese, Strawberries and Candied Pecans, then offered with Blackened Shrimp.
|Two sandwich options were available to our guests, a classic Cuban Panini with Roasted Mojo Pork, Ham, Swiss Cheese, Pickles and Mustard, as well as the Cafe and Shop’s popular Sweet and Savory Grilled Cheese. This is not your ordinary grilled cheese sandwich! This grilled cheese is made on a Herb Focaccia bread with Spinach, Swiss Cheese, Grilled Onions and Fig Jam.
|Corporate Executive Chef Elgin Woodman puts the final touches on the lunch buffet before the guests dig in. If any of these pictures made you hungry, head over to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and check out the Cafe and Shop. Also, don’t forget that you can also enjoy scones and tea every Sunday at our Tea on the Terrace event at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens!

Custom built bars and stations, a menu mix of latin and gastropub flavors and even a flashmob performance were highlights of the evening. Photos below!

Welcome to TaHEAti Beach! For today’s #ThrowbackThursday, we’re featuring this year’s Miami HEAT Gala, presented by Hublot. – just in time for our advance into the Eastern Conference Finals! Hosted by Ray and Shannon Allen, the theme for this year’s event was TaHEATi Beach and even an unexpected cold front couldn’t stop us! The event consisted of three design color phases for the event. As guests walked the red carpet into cocktail hour, they were greeted with Dom Perignon champagne, Polynesian dancers and plenty of Hublot bling! The dinner reception was inspired by a Tahitian sunset and was a wonderful time for the guests to interact with the HEAT players for games. The final touch was the event after party, which took place on a custom built deck overlooking the water. The design was inspired by the ocean, with plenty of blues and greens (plus strategically placed triangle heaters for warmth!). The night ended with an amazing fireworks show and special performance by Boys II Men.

Amazing end to a fantastic night in support of the Miami HEAT’s charitable programs!
In honor of Throwback Thursday we are featuring a spectacular wedding from last year that was held at the beautiful Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens. The Fairchild Garden is one of the most unique botanical gardens in the world, filled with hidden gems and beautiful views at every corner. It showcases vines, cycads, flowering trees, rare palms, lakes and so much more. The bride visited these gardens often growing up, and it always held a special place in her heart. So when it came to wedding planning, the venue was a no brainer! Fairchild Gardens was perfect for her wedding vision. The bride is a huge vintage lover, and a Vintage Chic wedding inspiration would best showcase their style on their special day. The bride and groom both come from well travelled families of Jewish decent, so they wanted traditional Jewish aspects in their wedding. To amp up the “travel” factor, they had a colorful and multicultural dinner menu, and added design flair from their honeymoon destination, Thailand, to introduce their guests to their love of cultures.

Custom Handmade Brooch Bouquet – Hello Glam!
The isle way was decorated with mason jars and flowers as well as cones of
mini pom poms the guests threw at the newly weds
The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens is a rather large venue – so a little directional signage always helps!
Guests were directed from the Bailey Palm Glade (ceremony area) to the Garden House where the
Wedding Reception was held.
The traditional chuppah was built by the AJW Design team to with the bride’s rustic vintage inspiration in mind.
What made this structure so special was the ribbon canopy. At the bride’s bridal shower, each guest wrote
a special handwritten message on ribbon to the bride and groom, to be used for the chuppah!
Guests sipped on the signature drink, Nimbu Pani, an Indian lemonade
with fresh berries as a pretty garnish.
Upon arrival to the reception area, the guests were welcomed with Indian spiced
popcorn, a triple combination of crispy, spicy and salty.
During Cocktail Hour, guests enjoyed a variety of Hors d’ oeuvres including Salmon Tartare
in a Black Sesame Cones, Vegetable Samosas,Macadamia Encrusted Mahi with Key Lime
Remoulade, Baba Ganoush Bruschetta with Roasted Vegetables and Pepper Drizzle and
Pomegranate Chicken on Pappadams with Walnut Chutney, Tamarind & Coconut
Our team worked with the bride and groom to create a travel theme for the guest card table. The design featured a
vintage suitcase with travel stickers, a vintage camera and family photos for extra personalization.
To carry the ribbon theme throughout the event, our design team hung two large multi-color
ribbon “chandeliers” as ceiling treatments over the two royal tables.
For a fun twist on the Just Married car, the sweetheart table for the bride and groom
was adorn with the Just Married sign as well as the string of cans.
The Mother of the Bride traveled to many different antique shows and tradeshows
in search of antique/vintage vases and tea cups to use as table décor.
It was amazing to work on the union of these two loving families, and see all of the
personal details come to life. This sweet wedding will be one we remember for years to come!
We turned 25! The AJW Team was so excited to throw a special celebration in honor of our 25th anniversary with over 350 friends at the Temple House in Miami Beach. It’s not every day we have the opportunity to spoil our clients at an event where we had creative direction over all event aspects. From a catering standpoint, we focused on sharing our various food service styles: stations, mini plates, action stations and more! Our design focus was on flowers (of course!) but also our production building through station walls, cabanas, and backdrops. The creative heads came together to create a fun-filled evening showcase the combination of our food and design capabilities in a true Miami party atmosphere. Enjoy the photos below!
