A Joy Wallace officially moves in on August 1st as the exclusive catering and design team for the venue.  For those who want a peek at the goods early, we’re hosting a three day open house THIS WEEKEND!  Dates and times are as follows: Friday, May 17th from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Saturday May 18th from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM and Sunday May 18th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Fashionable New Yorkers celebrate love in Miami.  Merissa and John celebrated their marriage at an intimate ceremony and reception at Miami’s renowned Vizcaya Museum and Gardens on Sunday, April 14^th,, 2013.  The design for the wedding combined old world treasures like mixed metals and mercury glass with mismatched interior design elements. Wooden, linenless royal tables, and round guests tables with textured burlap inspired linens set the style of the dining room. The rustic, old world design was softened by sprinkling romantic floral accents throughout the event space. A nude palette of peonies, garden roses and ranauculous were used in the centerpieces. Merissa and John glowed in all the candle light while sharing new memories with their cherished friends and family as newlywed husband and wife.  A destination wedding for most but an unforgettable night for all!  A special nod to the ladies of Daughter of Design for an amazing creative collaboration…

Fashion forward arts enthusiast marries trendsetting South Beach darling.  With a warm breeze and clear blue skies, Jonathan Babicka married Missy Ewart under the tender gazes of friends and family at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.  As the Ceremony concluded with “you may now kiss the bride”, guests were surprised with a brass band who kick off the celebration and escorted guests from the Casino Mound to the East Terrace where guests dined under the stars.  Truly an unforgettable night of fun, laughter and love for this unforgettable couple.  Congrats to Missy and Jonathan!

The A Joy Wallace Design Team had the opportunity to bring the jungle to life at the the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL.  For this event, we brought our camera crew to film a time lapse video of how the event came together.

Textures & fabrics included leather, burlap and wood. The color palette was full of earthy tones enhanced by the mood lighting. The perimeter featured a variety of plants & trees to finish the jungle effect.

The Ocean Reef Club is a beautiful private club located in Key Largo. Part of the magic of working in design is having the opportunity to take already stylized spaces and turn them into a completely different experiences for event guests. We’re excited to share this with you via video!

The word “magical” and weddings go hand in hand, but every now and then you meet a couple like Christina and Diego that personify magic and spread their contagious glowing energy to every person they come in contact with. The AJW team was moved by the couple’s creative and imaginative ideas and together we created a Mid Summer Night’s Dream inspired event exceeding any modern day Shakespearean lovers’ expectations.

The First act was set on Vizcaya Museum and Garden’s Lower East Terrace.  Friends and family gathered around the joyous couple as they gazed passionately into each other’s eyes professing their love to one another. The picturesque Miami skyline and Vizcaya’s historical barge provided the perfect backdrop for the couples organic, intimate ceremony!  As guests waited for Ceremony, they were treated to Passion Fruit Margaritas with Ginger Popsicles inspired by Diego & Christina’s two favorite cocktails.

 

Post ceremony Diego surprised his blushing bride with a gift. To her amazement, enclosed in a wooden box was a vintage 3L bottle of wine engraved with the couple’s names and wedding date.  Diego gave a warm heart-felt speech about the intentions of his gift…he and his bride would nail the wine box shut and would not open it until their 5^th Year wedding anniversary!  Diego then invited guests to bring their Polaroid’s, notes and trinkets and place them into the wine box as well.  Where did they get these photos?  Unbeknownst to the Bride, the AJW Wedding Team was having fun with guests taking their Polaroid’s pictures for the post ceremony surprise!

The Mid summers night theme continued onto the reception on the Casino Mound where guests danced under the loving embrace of the Live Oaks and enjoyed tunes from superstar live band High Voltage, covering everything from Animal House Classics to contemporary party songs!  Guests leisurely enjoyed various signature food station by Joy Wallace and were treated to some home made pies from family recipes provided by the Bride herself!

The fun continued with an amazing open air photo both by Faux To Booth.

All in all a most spectacular, fantastical and memorable night for all!  Congratulations Diego & Christina!

We’re in Finals season, and Miami can definitely feel the HEAT!  Last week we produced the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund Gala at an amazing private residence in Coral Gables.  The theme this year was Motown, and featured special performances by The Temptations and The Four Tops.  As typical with outdoor events, rain was a threat, but thankfully held off until all were seated in the dinner tent and we were well on our way into the evening!  The HEAT team came out to support the donors, mixing, mingling and interacting via Motown inspired games that offered a little competition between tables.  Design features included custom illuminated Motown record bars, replica Championship rings for the napkins, glass cubes featuring the 2006 & 2012 championship rings, and walls featuring the Motown greats as perimeter decor. Merrick Manor, Coral Gables’ latest luxury condo building, celebrated the Grand Opening of it’s sales center with a fabulous outdoor party.  The A Joy Wallace team was tasked to handle both catering and design for the event, and we are so excited to share the photos with you!

It was quite a makeover for what was a simple parking lot just 48 hours before!  The hit of the evening was our Heirloom Caprese Carving Station with a hanging salt & pepper bar and a variety of olive oils and balsamic varieties for guests to choose from.  The station was inspired by Cade Nagy (Catering by Design | Denver, CO) from his PURE Sensation party at the Catersource Conference & Trade Show last year! (note:  shameless conference plug!)

Hors d’ Oeuvres & Dessert included Mini Smoked Fish Tacos, Oxtail Empanadas, Pork Belly with Mango & Jicama Slaw, Balsamic Strawberries and a Fried Tres Leches and much more.
